LACROSSE

The game is played with a lacrosse stick and lacrosse ball. The sticks head has mesh that is used to carry, pass, catch and shoot the ball into the goal of the opponent. There is no limit to running with the ball. The traditional version of lacrosse originates from Native Americans almost 1500 years ago and now its back into the olympics. Unlike a lot of sports the men's and women's version are very different (read below)

MENS FIELD LACROSSE

It has been described as ice hockey on a field without a puck but with a hard rubber ball, allot of physical contact between players is allowed. This is also why each player wears a helmet, chest, shoulder and elbow protection, as well as a mouthguard, a cup and gloves. (there is a variant called box lacrosse as well which many famous ice-hockey players like Wayne gretzky, John Tavares and Doug Favell have played this is even more extreme, played on a hockey rink without and ice and so even more similar. We do play this time to time)

WOMENS LACROSSE

In this version of the sport, only limited to no physical contact is allowed and thus you wear only a mouthguard and sometimes goggles. The ball is lost less often due to physical contact and more due to someone hitting the top of the stick of the ball bearer.

  • Limited physical contact
  • No difference in equipment between field players
  • Only goggles and mouthguard for protection

Delft Lacrosse also provides clinics for lots of different audiences. From schools, to student clubs to companies, you name it. If you would like to have a lacrosse clinic, feel free to contact us so we can discuss the possibilities. We deliver customized clinics tailored to your wishes.

PRACTICES

We have open practices now on the 26 of Aug, 2 & 9th of September, join us! You don't need any experience, we provide equipment and best of all it is FREE!

The regular practices occur on wednesday (20:00 - 21:30)

WHAT TO BRING

Training is outdoors so dress appropriate to the weather conditions. Sport shoes (preferably soccer shoes/cleats) and a mouthguard (not required) are recommended. We can provide all other lacrosse gear for you. Don't forget a bottle of water!

  • Practice is on the last artificial turf field (soccer field #2).
